Why can’t I quit you?

I’ll be honest. Sometimes I struggle.

It’s a challenge at times, to find visually interesting, lively and witty humorous content for this blog.

At some point I’d hoped and continue to hope that this blog will parallel the work I get paid to do so the inspiration will be right at my finger tips.

But alas, this has not yet happened.

But hold on! Don’t be so quick to shut it down..

If you think that maybe blogging is a BIG waste of my time let me tell you a little about all the awesome adventures that have come via this little (okay, maybe not so little) project.

This blog has set me on a whole new career path.
I have met some awesome people that support me and are always trying to funnel me freelance jobs.
I simply love to do it.
This blog serves as an ongoing resume of my skills.

Blogging has helped keep my graphic design and layout skills current.
Blogging is wonderful for your self-esteem! (Espesh when people like it)
I’ve acquired some editing and WordPress skills

I now spend my days trying to teach people the power of social media and blogging and how to use these seemingly distracting tools to their highest advantage. But most importantly, blogging has brought me to my biggest love in addition to design – and that’s the written word.

Now I get paid to do it.

No. I’m not making a ton of money yet. But as an old school Graphic Designer, my skills were less than current. This blog has helped me regain confidence in my creative talents. I’ve had several opportunities come knocking as a result.

So it’s true that there are no advertisers on this blog and that it may not look successful in the most typical of ways..

But it’s paid off in many other behind-the-scenes sort of ways.

Friendships, wonderful networks, connections, Interior Design education, social media education, getting invited to awesome fashion and design functions and last but certainly not least, I was led to discover my true love-

Writing (I heart you)

And I found I totally don’t suck at it, so that’s a perk. And who knows, maybe some day, I will even get really good at it.

AND how else would I be able to share my design and fashion obsessions?
